Battery Storage in Irving

A home battery holds onto the solar power your panels make so you can use it at night or when the grid goes dark. We size it to what your home actually needs, install it cleanly and show you how it works before we leave.

What a home battery does for you

Most people are surprised to learn that a standard grid-tied solar system shuts off when the power goes out. That is a safety rule that protects line workers. A battery changes that. With the right equipment, your home separates from the grid during an outage and keeps running on stored solar.

A battery also helps on ordinary days. Your panels make the most power around midday, when you may not be home to use it. Instead of sending that extra to the grid for whatever credit your electricity plan offers, you can store it and draw on it in the evening when usage climbs.

We treat the decision the way we would for a neighbor. Some homes get real value from storage and some do not yet. We will look at your usage, your panels and your plan and tell you honestly which group you fall into.

What our battery storage work includes

A look at what you want backed up

We walk through the circuits that matter to you: refrigerator, lights, internet, a well pump, medical equipment or a home office. That list drives everything else.

Sizing to your panels and usage

We match battery capacity to your actual energy use and to how much your panels can recharge it each day. A battery that is too small runs out early, and one that is too large costs money you did not need to spend.

Placement that suits the equipment

Batteries have temperature limits and clearance rules. We pick a garage wall or an exterior spot that keeps the unit within its operating range, away from direct afternoon sun where possible, and easy to reach for service.

Backup wiring and the switchover gear

We install the gateway or transfer equipment that lets your home disconnect from the grid during an outage, and we wire a backup panel for the circuits you chose if the system calls for one.

Permits and utility paperwork

We pull the city permit, schedule the inspection and handle the interconnection paperwork so the system is approved before it goes into regular use.

Setup and a walkthrough

We commission the system, test a simulated outage with you there, and show you the monitoring app so you can see charge levels and where your power is going.

Signs a battery makes sense for your home

  • Outages keep catching you off guard

If storms or grid strain have left you without power more than once, stored energy keeps the basics running. Many Texas families started looking at batteries after the 2021 winter storm.

  • Your solar goes quiet when the grid does

You already have panels, but they shut down in every outage. Adding a battery and the right switchover gear lets them keep working for you.

  • You get little credit for extra solar

Buyback rates depend on your retail electricity plan, and some pay far less than what you pay for power. Storing your surplus and using it yourself can be worth more.

  • Someone at home depends on power

Oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines, refrigerated medication or a work-from-home setup all make an interruption more serious. A battery covers those loads quietly.

  • You are planning new solar anyway

Designing panels and storage together is usually simpler and cleaner than adding a battery later. Ask about it when you look at solar panel installation.

How a battery installation goes

  1. 1

    A phone conversation first

You tell us what you want the battery to do and share a recent electric bill if you have one. We will tell you plainly whether storage looks like a good fit.

  2. 2

    A visit to your home

We look at your electrical panel, your existing solar if you have it, and the spots where a battery could go. We measure and take photos so the design matches your house.

  3. 3

    A written proposal

You get the battery size, the circuits it will cover, the equipment and the cost laid out line by line. Take your time with it.

  4. 4

    Installation day

Most battery installs take a day. We protect floors and walls, mount the unit, run conduit neatly and keep power interruptions short. We clean up before we go.

  5. 5

    Inspection and turn-on

After the city inspection and utility approval, we switch the system on, run a test outage with you and answer your questions.

What moves the cost of battery storage

Battery pricing varies more than most people expect, so we quote after seeing your home and hearing what you want covered. Your proposal lists each piece so you can see where the money goes. These are the main things that push the number up or down.

Storage capacity
More kilowatt-hours means longer backup and more evening use, and more cost. We size to your needs, not the biggest unit available.
Essential circuits or the whole home
Backing up a handful of circuits takes less storage than powering everything. Large loads like central air or an electric range raise capacity needs quickly.
Your existing solar equipment
Some inverters pair directly with a battery and others need extra hardware. We check your system before quoting.
Your electrical panel
An older or full panel may need changes to make room for backup wiring. We will show you what we found and why.
Mounting location
A short run from the panel to a garage wall costs less than a long conduit run to an exterior location.

Battery storage questions we hear often

Something not covered here? (972) 954-1315

Will my solar panels power my home during an outage without a battery?

Usually not. Grid-tied systems are required to shut off when the grid goes down so they do not send power onto lines crews are working on. A battery with switchover equipment lets your home island itself and keep using your solar safely.

Can you add a battery to the solar I already have?

In most cases, yes. It depends on your inverter and electrical panel. We look at both during the visit and explain whether your system can pair directly or needs added equipment.

How long will a battery keep my home running?

It depends on the battery size and what you run. Essentials like a refrigerator, lights and Wi-Fi can last a long time, and sunny days recharge the battery. Large loads drain it much faster, so we size around your list.

Is it okay to put a battery in a hot garage?

Batteries have an operating temperature range, and North Texas summers test it. We choose a spot with shade and airflow, follow the manufacturer's clearance rules, and avoid walls that bake in afternoon sun.

Does a battery save money, or is it mainly for backup?

Both, though backup is the clearer benefit for most homes. Savings depend on your electricity plan and how much solar you would otherwise send to the grid. We will run through your bill with you and give you an honest picture.

Ready to keep your lights on?

Give us a call and tell us what you want to back up. We will talk through whether a battery fits your home and set up a visit if it does.
